Glady’s

Sometimes all we need is change. A change of scenery, a change of hairstyle, or in Michael Jacober’s case, a change in food. Jacober’s has worked a range of restaurants, some of them including fine-dining restaurant Per Se and a pizzeria called Fanny’s. In 2013, in an effort to reinvent himself, Jacober’s opened Glady’s on the border of Crown Heights. Glady’s is a Caribbean restaurant that offers staple dishes such as jerk chicken, goat curry, and fried plantains. Plants and woven lamps are suspended from a turquoise ceiling, offering an airy feel to the space. The seating is communal and gives a nice warm welcoming feel to it.

On our particular trip to Glady’s we ordered an array of dishes – spicy and flavorful jerk chicken and pork, plantains, goat curry, and bokchoy. The jerk chicken and goat curry were amongst our favorite items on the table, and we soon found ourselves filled to the brim. The jerk chicken was full of flavor with a hint of spiciness, and the curry came with big chunks of tender goat along with a well-developed sauce. Don’t forget to use the jerk sauce on the side, as this brings out the flavor and gives moisture to the meat.

Glady’s can get a little crowded for dinner, but on a good note, the food arrives fast so you shouldn’t be waiting too long!
